Safety and

Responsibility

At the Temple of Spirit Alchemy, safety is not separate from the work, it is part of the work.

We are committed to creating a container that is intentional, informed, and grounded, where transformation can unfold with integrity and care.

Preparation & Screening

All participants are required to complete a thorough medical and psychological screening process prior to participation.

This includes:

  • Review of current medications

  • Mental health history

  • Cardiovascular health considerations

  • Personal readiness for deep inner work

Certain substances and conditions may present risks when combined with entheogenic practices.

Contraindications may include (but are not limited to):

  • SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, and other medications affecting serotonin

  • History of severe psychiatric conditions (e.g., psychosis, schizophrenia)

  • Heart conditions or uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • Pregnancy

Emerging research suggests that substances such as 5-MeO-DMT interact strongly with the brain’s serotonin system. When combined with certain medications (particularly MAOIs), this may increase the risk of serotonin toxicity, a potentially serious condition.

Participation is contingent upon honest disclosure and facilitator review.

Facilitated Environment (Set & Setting)

All ceremonies are conducted within a carefully held, intentionally designed environment.

This includes:

▫️ Experienced and trained facilitators

▫️ Clear ceremonial structure and energetic containment

▫️ A physically safe and supportive space

Scientific research consistently highlights the importance of “set and setting”, the mindset of the participant and the environment in which the experience takes place, as key factors influencing outcomes.

We prioritize creating a space that supports:

▫️ Psychological safety

▫️ Emotional openness

▫️ Trust in the process

Nervous System Support & Integration

The alchemical process does not end with the ceremony, it requires integration

We support this through:

▪️ Grounding and somatic awareness practices

▪️ Post-ceremony integration guidance

▪️ Encouragement of ongoing meditation or contemplative practice

The nervous system plays a central role in how experiences are processed and embodied. Without integration, even profound insights may remain unanchored.

Participants are encouraged to engage with the Meditation Program or an established personal practice to support long-term integration.

Risk Acknowledgment

Participation in ceremonial work involves entering into altered states of consciousness, which may include:

▫️ Intense emotional or physical release

▫️ Confrontation with unresolved memories or psychological material

▫️ Experiences that feel disorienting or expansive

*This work is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care*

By participating, individuals acknowledge:

▫️ They are engaging voluntarily

▫️ They assume personal responsibility for their experience

▫️ They have been informed of potential risks

This path is not without intensity.

But when approached with preparation, respect, and integration, it can be profoundly supportive of healing, insight, and remembrance.

Safety is not control.
Safety is relationship to the body and to the process
